Program
The Spring 2021 semester of the North Shore Field School will take place over 13 Saturday sessions. This course will help students to understand the relationship between individual lives and communities by exploring the life histories of narrators in the Waialua moku.
Regular and punctual attendance will be essential to pass the course. University students who participate in the program will receive three course credits: undergraduate students will register for ES/ANTH 493 Oral History, and graduate students will register for ANTH 682 Applied Cultural Anthropology Practicum.
We are currently planning to have face-to-face sessions. We will be following state and university guidelines regarding COVID-19 procedures. Everyone, including the instructors, will be REQUIRED to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Frequent cleaning and sanitizing procedures will also be in place.
If the COVID-19 situation lightens, there is opportunity for huakaŹ»i to Waialua. We will inform you ahead of time of these opportunities and the proper procedures to do so.
If the COVID-19 situation worsens, we will migrate the course to a virtual format. We are capable of conducting this course virtually and are prepared to make the switch if need be.
